Mobile Steam Engines

Although Traction engines were produced as long ago as the 1850's, today some 150 years on, many examples can still be seen in use.
The most magnificent of the mobiles was surely the Showman's engine. A remarkable display of energy, motion and light. Such engines could be seen at fairgrounds, supplying the power source for the pleasure rides.
However, the real commercial use was to the farming community and road haulage, prior to the introduction of the conventional tractors and lorries.
